WinForms developers can now allow users to edit images from inside their applications, thanks to the new ImageEditor control.
Letting end users edit imagery directly within your app is an often requested requirement in Line-of-Business apps, and we're excited to say you can now deliver this easily. In this blog post, I will provide you with an overview of the new Image Editor control in Telerik UI for WinForms, which we introduced with our R2'18 Release.
Introducing the Image Editor
Images can say a lot more than words alone. Developers and end users both rely on images to illustrate important information. However, these images can vary in sizes and sometimes they need to be manipulated to best present the information. In the latest release, we are thrilled to expand our Telerik UI for WinForms controls suite with the new RadImageEditor control.
It is meant to be used as a standalone control, but it has also been integrated into the RadRichTextEditor for manipulating images.
Key Features of the WinForms Image Editor
RadImageEditor lets you preview and edit images in various file formats. It offers multiple ways to modify an image that you've loaded directly into the editor.
- Fine-Tuning Adjustments
Perform adjustments easily to fine-tune your images. Modify hue, saturation, contrast or even invert colors.

- Image Transformation
Easily transform your images by resizing, rotating, rounding corners, flipping vertically or horizontally, cropping, or drawing shapes and text with just a few clicks.

- Undo/Redo
RadImageEditor has a history stack which records each command executed on the image currently loaded in the control. This allows past actions to be reversed and reapplied when needed.
- Import/Export
You can load and save images in different file formats - .jpeg, .bmp, .png, .tiff, etc.
- Built-in Localization Support
The RadImageEditor is globally-ready. Control text and messages in a language of your choosing.
